Christmas Meal

Our lunch on Christmas!! :)
Peanut butter!!

Water Balloons

Week 15

Buenas!!!

Well this week was a super great one! I sure loved seeing the family via skype! That was the best present ever! ... and then there is the Peanut Butter that mom sent that is a close second... :)

So you are probably all wanting to know how Christmas is here! SO they like to treat the 24th as Christmas here! So basically they set off fireworks ALL day!! And then they all set off UN MONTON (a ton) at Midnight! It scared my companion and I out of our pants! They say it will be worse this week with New Years... At least this time I will be prepared!! ;) They also make a ton of tamales!! I don´t think anyone here really likes them that much, they mostly just eat a ton because it is tradition! We ended up eating tamales at 2 appointments, and then we were give a total of 6 tamales from 2 different families! But to top that we also had a lunch and dinner appointment on the 24th! So no worries, I got plenty of food!! They also all get new outfits and get all dressed up on the 24th! They open presents at midnight and then all sleep in! But then on Christmas day, they just eat and eat and eat tamales! I never thought I would get sunburnt on Christmas!! Also didn´t think I would ever eat a hamburger on Christmas... That is another story!

Sooo Christmas aside, we had a really great week! Full of lots of new investigators! We found a family of 10 people over the age of 9 in on of the fincas (where all the bananas are)! There were more kids under the age of 9 too! We just couldnt count them because they were constantly moving! :)

We also taught Marisol! She is wonderful! She really does understand what we teach her! We have been visiting her family for over a month. Initially the other members were interested, but now she is the one progressing! She just has a problem with gambling...

So last p-day we spent in Morales with the zone! It was super fun! It was great to just goof off :) Pictures to come! :)

Ponderizing: Alma 17:10-11. I love this story! I just love the story of Alma and the Sons of Mosiah. But these verses are wonderful. It talks about being patient during our trials, and God can use us as an instrument in his hands. As missionaries that is our goal. To be an instrument in God´s hands.

Love you all so much! Enjoy your New Year!!

We were just goofing off! ;)
here is the zone ... well, the people that came!

Week 14

Buenas!!

Well this last week was a fun one!

We went to the capital on Tuesday, and then we had a multi-zone conference on Thursday! It was such a great conference! And after we got to watch Frozen! (In Spanish :)

The other day was pretty special, we were walking, and saw a kid doing yard work, and I had an impression to offer to help him. He, unlike many males, let us help! His grandma got out of her chair and was shocked that 2 ladies in skirts were going to shovel and work on the yard. We told her we are used to doing just about anything in a skirt! :) Well after talking to her for a little bit, we found out that her son lives in Utah, and is a bishop there! And that some of her grandchildren have served missions! She has also been to church when she visited the states! We had a lesson with her on Sunday, and it went well, we are really working on her and her 4 grandkids that live with her here!

We had our Christmas party this week with the members here. It was just a little different than normal, and part of that was due to the fact that it was stormy ALL day and there was no power all day... so we had to change our plans and improvise! Fun times! But then half-way through the activity the power came back and we were able to watch the videos that we had planned!!

We had our primary program this Sunday! It went well! The kids have such a love for the church here, it is so fun to see!!

We also got to help paint a house this week! That was super fun!!

Well sad news, one of the strongest families here moved on Monday. It was so sad! But now we are really trying so much harder to find new families to help this area stay strong!

Ponderizing: Alma 9:26. I love how we are able to learn so much about Christ from the Book of Mormon. This scripture is a perfect example of that. I love the last part, quick to hear the cries of his people. We know he is always listening, and is always there. He wants to bless us and answer prayers!

Love you all tons! Merry Christmas!!

Week 13

Buenas!

Wow! what a fun week! Here are the highlights!

Yohanna
Her husband is a less active that was baptized back when there were missionaries here almost 20 years ago! She is the best! She LOVES the Book of Mormon and is always asking what her next reading assignment is! She came to church yesterday with her daughters and enjoyed it! She is golden!! AAAAnd she has started to clean our clothes.... so it is the best!! ;)

Then we have Cynthia, Doris, Carlos, and Crystel!
They are awesome! Cynthia is the mom, and is so sweet! Doris is 17 and really progressing! She loves reading and always reads what we assign and more! She is an example to her family!

We went to the Castigos (I think she meant Castillos, which means castles) de San Felipe! It was awesome! Super hot, but soooo worth it! Lots of pictures from today! And yes, I was rocking my crocs!! ;) I am now a firm believer in those! Everyone here wears them, and it is because everyone here enjoys being comfortable!! ;)

This week has had ups and downs, as all do, but I have found that as I have prayed, with real intent, I have been able to feel so much closer to our Heavenly Father. I would really encourage everyone to say a pray out loud, on their knees this week. If you already do that, then try to just say a prayer of thanks. If you already do that... you are awesome! ;)

I am ponderizing this week John 14:27. It it the Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth give I unto you.... um something like that.. don't have it all memorized yet, but I have been thinking this week, first off how thankful I am for the peace that we can receive from our loving Father in Heaven through the Holy Ghost. That is a feeling that cannot be counter-fitted. We can ask for peace at any time, and God will bless us. God wants us to be happy. If we are not feeling His love or presence in our lives, there is something we need to change to be closer to Him.

Love you all so much!!

A great view down the road
It is beautiful here

Week 12

¡Buenas!

Well Christmas has officially ¨thrown up¨ in our house! This really is the most wonderful time of the year!

It is starting to get a little chilly here! I even had to wear a jacket the other day! It will be cold until Feb!! Then it will get worse than it was before!

This week was fantastic! We had the baptism of Hermana Vilma on Saturday! It went smoothly ... for the most part :) We gave her grandkids CTR rings!

We spent 14 hours in buses this week! We had another capacitaciĆ³n (training) for new missionaries, and then we had a wonderful zone conference!! We have a multi-zone conference this Friday! Should be loads of fun!!

So I mentioned Lupita last week, well we went to visit her this week, and she was gone. Come to find our she was in the Capital because her husband is very sick. She came back yesterday and we visited with her. It went so well! We invited her to be baptized and she accepted. She is praying about the date, but she is seriously such a wonderful women. Like next R.S. president!

Also, this week we met Edgar. He is 14, and such a good kid! He came to church yesterday and asked how he could get a song book! He is super in tuned with the Spirit and loves learning more. He also has a baptisimal date! He has some cousins in the US that are members!

Our district survived changes! But both of the Elders here are sick right now!

We are teaching the primary their songs for the primary program! It if fun for me to also memorize them in Spanish! I don't think I will know them in English soon!

Ponderize: Luke 2:45 I love the phrase ¨Seeking him.¨ Sometimes we may get off the path, or loose sight of Christ in our lives. But the beauty of it is we can always change. We have the decision to seek him and get back on track. We need to have that love that Mary and Joseph had for their son, and we need to love having the Holy Ghost with us.

LOVE YOU ALL!!
